We are well into our Stay Active at Home video series and we hope you’ve enjoyed what we have been able to offer so far.
Up to now, we have tried to introduce a new activity each week and this week we have a brand new HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout from our RGU Sports Coaching student Ashleigh.
The first of these new sessions will go live at 2pm on Friday

Run 4 Fun 2021
This week also sees the launch of our new Virtual Run Series, Run4Fun 2021. Active Schools staff will be distributing details of the series locally to each school with information on how it works and how pupils can sign up to take part.
Some of the Active Schools team have taken part already and we’ve compiled this into a YouTube video providing the details of the series – https://youtu.be/ldJd98Cv4Pk
Here’s a quick snapshot of the important information.
- Pupils can complete their run in and around their local area, in their own time and can choose their own route
- The aim of the series is for each participant to complete at least one run per month during February, March, April and May.
- Each age group has a different minimum distance to be covered for the monthly run.
- P1 – P3 Pupils (600 metres)
- P4 – P5 Pupils (1 kilometre)
- P6 – P7 Pupils (2 kilometres)
- S1- S6 Pupils (3 kilometres)
- Participants submit the details of their run to Active Schools via an online form and when the series ends every pupil who participated will receive a custom designed Run 4 Fun medal and a certificate of achievement.
It only costs £2 (+0.71p booking fee) to take part in the whole series and sign ups can be made online via this link – https://bit.ly/ApplyforRun4Fun2021
We will keep you updated on further sessions in due course however in the meantime why not like, follow or subscribe to our various social media feeds

Active Schools supporting Schools to keep children and adults active during lockdown (13/01/2021)
With all sport and physical activity sessions run through Active Schools being suspended currently, we wanted to provide you with information on some of the fantastic resources and online content we have created that you could use to support your school’s pupils with keeping physically active during their home schooling period.
You may remember during the summer we set a variety of challenges each week for pupils to participate in and send us their best efforts and our series of Mindfulness Videos thanks to one of our partner organisations allowing people the opportunity to take a few minutes out of their day to relax and unwind. There are approximately 20 videos that have now been added to a YouTube playlist on the Live Life Aberdeenshire YouTube channel and can be viewed and tried at any point.

Outwith the video content, the team have designed a fantastic Stay Active at Home set of online resource cards that can be downloaded from the Live Life at Home page of the LLA website with some simple games and ideas to help keep children active at home.

We also have a series of lesson plans for some of the sports and physical activities that we offer that could be used or adapted to carry out a physical activity in a suitable space. If you would like more information on these lesson plans then please contact your local Active Schools Coordinator who can help you.
Finally, we are also working on a plan to create some brand new online activity sessions that pupils can take part in from the comfort of their own home.
The first of these takes the form a dance session lead by our Alford Coordinator Fiona Preston. The video will be released live on YouTube on Wednesday 13th January at 10am
