GRADUATE APPRENTICESHIPS 2021: Opportunity for S5/S6 & HNC/D students – a degree, career & salary in Software Engineering with University of Glasgow (Posted 22/4/2021)

We are delighted to announce that we have up to 40 live vacancies on the University of Glasgow Software Engineering Graduate Apprenticeship – an alternative route to attaining a traditional BSc (Hons) which includes a career, work experience and a salary.

This is a great opportunity for S5/6 and HNC/D students looking to secure their future education and career.

Employer Partners: Barclays; BBC; and VeryConnect are all currently recruiting. You can check out all these opportunities here

Further vacancies are expected and the best way to keep up to date is by signing up to our mailing list here or following us on twitter @UofGGAs.

We would be really grateful if you could share this across your community, likely to be of interest to: your DYW school liaison, Careers Advisors, S5/6 Year Heads, Computing and ICT teachers.

How do Graduate Apprenticeships differ from a traditional degree?

As you know Graduate Apprentices benefit from a job, a salary (starting salary circa £14-18k) and a degree (Software Engineering BSc Hons) at the same time.

Applicants apply directly to the employers therefore not impacting UCAS submissions

We also flex a little on our entry requirement accepting B’s (at Highers/ Advanced Highers/ HNC/D) rather than our straight A norm.

It is a great option for students for whom Maths, Sciences and ICT related subjects are their strong point. Now is the perfect time for them to explore and apply – it is a short online process.

Year One GA Connor and year two GA Megan share their experiences of working with an employer and studying at UofG.

This is for candidates living across Scotland
Our Graduate Apprentices have access to the full gamut of university services and facilities available to all students and we encourage applications from across the length and breadth of Scotland. Assistance with sourcing accommodation is available and because the programme includes earning a salary (minimum Living Wage) it provides the financial support that might normally prohibit applicants from studying away from home.

Furthermore, our 8-week learning blocks ensure Graduate Apprentices benefit from a full student experience, as well as learning in the workplace.

Full details about how the programme works, our employer partners, and how to apply can be found here.

We are on hand to chat to your team, teachers, parents/carers and students who would like to find out more. All of whom can contact the GA Team directly at compsci-ga-team@glasgow.ac.uk
