Curriculum for Excellence

New SQA Exams

Most parents will be aware that the new SQA qualifications structure is being introduced across Scotland this session. The first year group to be involved in the new exams is our current S4 who will gain the new National 3, 4 or 5 qualifications in 2014. The new National qualifications replace the Standard Grade and Intermediate qualifications which are now being phased out.

The SQA have produced a helpful guide to the new qualifications for parents which is available from their website at –

S3 Profiles

Pupils are developing an S3 profile to be completed by June.

The profile, which includes a learner’s statement, captures a pupil’s best achievements in and out of school and is developed by the pupil with support from their teacher.

Developing the profile will also support pupils in the transition to the Senior Phase (S4-S6).
